LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

SUPPORTING YOU IN BEING YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF

LGBTQIA+ folks face all of the same mental health challenges straight and cis people do—stress, anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth/self-esteem, etc. Additionally, our society normalizes heterosexual and cisgender identities, which creates mental health challenges that are unique to queer people. As an LGBTQIA+ affirming and knowledgeable therapist, I can create a space with you specifically for exploring and celebrating your gender and/or sexual identity, and how these facets intersect with other parts of you, as well as a place to work on issues of anxiety, depression, etc. with a therapist who doesn’t need you to educate them about queer issues.

Issues we might discuss include: the coming-out process, gender dysphoria, social and medical gender affirming procedures, and navigating relationships with family, friends, romantic and sexual partners, and colleagues.

We may do this through talking, through using somatic (body-based) approaches, through developing skills for assertive communication and boundary setting, or by making art for self-expression and exploration. Whether or not your identity is a focus of our work together, I aim to honor all facets of your unique identity and to create a space where you feel like all elements of yourself and your experiences are accepted without judgment.

You deserve to be fully yourself and find joy in the process.
